I believe this is the correct way to do DELTA. I would recommend the course to anyone.
I'm very happy that I chose to do Sandy Millin's "Take Your Time Delta Module 1" course. I'm enjoying the process of studying under Sandy's excellent guidance with a small group of fellow teachers. Doing the course over 30 weeks makes it possible to fit studying around my teaching schedule without stress and with space to reflect and research.
I can see the impact on my teaching now as I feel more confident giving explanations of grammar or pronunciation, and I'm planning my classes thinking more precisely about the aims of the lesson.
The flexibility and working in a small group is what is helping me the most even with the lack of time I have due to my job.
I had lost hope and confidence through the process of struggling to manage my full-time job and the 'beast' called DELTA. Sandy helped me gain it all back through her friendly feedback and her well-organised course. After successfully completing Module 1 with her, I knew that I wanted to do Module 3.
Sandy really has depth of knowledge and can handle nuance in questions. She makes sure we learn to give concise and precise responses to the Delta tasks.
I feel like I have both the knowledge for the Module 1 exam AND a real strategy to approach the exam.
I'm confident in the course.
Your structure means a person can have a life and all the adventures that it entails.
The course has made me a better teacher. It made me aware of how many gaps I have in my teaching skill and knowledge. Throughout the course, I was able to apply what I learnt in the weekly sessions/outside reading in the classroom. This was really satisfying as I was able to apply what I'd learnt and feel a sense of development as a teacher.
I have got a whole lot of enjoyment working with the other test-takers as a group. I have obviously got a lot of knowledge out of studying for the exams. After about five years of umming and ahhing about it, I am so glad that I found this course to get me over the finish line of taking the Module 1 exam.
I think the feedback I had on my homework was exceptionally good and in far greater detail then I would have expected. I love the homework menu because I always had something to do and could tailor my studying to my needs.
There's no way I would have been able to do this course in the standard three-month timeframe offered from other providers.
Sandy is a really excellent teacher who knows her stuff. I wouldn't think twice about studying with her in the future.
Sandy is both extremely knowledgeable and endlessly patient. Her course is well structured to the needs of the participants. Our knowledge of language improved alongside our knowledge of the exam and techniques to help us achieve our best.
This course is useful for professional development and not only for exam preparation as there's a holistic approach to it. If someone thinks they need to know everything before doing the course, they shouldn't worry, because there's room for growth and development provided that you have a basic knowledge of teaching approaches and language awareness. The structure of the course will help you follow it easily and by the end of it to feel confident taking the exams.
To prepare for DELTA Module 1 is very enlightening, to learn together with Sandy is priceless. She shares a lot of experience and knowledge and I think I will finish the course knowing much more than is needed to pass the exam.
Time pressure was definitely my biggest concern about doing a Delta and the main reason I delayed studying for it.
Although there's still a lot of ground to cover, the way the course is structured helps to relieve a lot of the pressure and allows me to fit my studies around other commitments. Sandy's also incredibly supportive, and her vast experience in the industry is an excellent resource by itself.
I think Sandy's approach (a session a week plus homework for around thirty weeks) is a game changer for Module 1 preparation. To my knowledge, no one else is offering this format, but it enables the course to be much more effective and less stressful, with iterations of knowledge-building, collaborative tasks, exam practice and feedback, spread over a long period, so our learning needs can be properly met. I would recommend Sandy's course to anyone studying Delta Module 1.
I admire people who try to promote the best of me and inspire me to reach my goals. Sandy achieved this through her professionalism, correct guidance and the trust she showed in my abilities from the very beginning. The 'hands-on' method helps me to learn from my mistakes so that I can avoid them in the future.
If you ever wanted to try your hand at the Delta then Sandy is the best trainer to support you. She listens to your concerns and acts immediately.
I never thought I could do the Delta but this course has given me an in-depth knowledge of how ELT works.
One of my biggest fears about the Delta was the time pressure. Sandy's Take Your Time Delta Module 1 course took all this away. The course not only prepared me for the Module 1 exam but gave me the confidence to start Module 2. I am grateful to Sandy for sharing her diligent work ethic, her passion for academic development, and her wealth of experience in ELT.
I'm so pleased I decided to do the 'Take Your Time DELTA Module 1' course. The course content is manageable while working full time. I have particularly benefited from doing this at the same time as working because I can actively consider what we have worked on in the sessions and relate it to my teaching practice. Sandy is supportive and her feedback is always useful.
There's an old joke that goes: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." The same can be applied to the Cambridge DELTA. Somehow, Sandy manages to break it down into manageable chunks so it's not as daunting. With her guidance and wealth of knowledge, you get all the tools you need to take on the challenge. The rest really depends on how much work you're willing to put in.
I chose Sandy's course because most module 1 offerings are intensive. I wanted a course that I could take while working full-time and without it taking over my life. The live class held once a week is very hands-on with time for questions and there is regular homework including readings, videos and mock tasks. If you're hesitating over whether to take this course, don't. Sandy's a brilliant teacher trainer and you're in excellent hands.
Sandy is a great teacher, who is always positive and knowledgeable.
She goes the extra mile to provide feedback and encouragement.
This course is brilliant. By the end of it, you'll be as prepared as you can be for the module 1 exam. Personally speaking, I learned a lot more than exam content and met some fabulous people online. Sandy is a great teacher and is very passionate about all things EFL. Five stars!
Though the course is demanding and you should allocate some time to learn the theory, Sandy sets up a positive atmosphere in the class, shares her experience, gives valuable tips and advice. You want to come to the lessons because it makes you feel positive and inspired.
A well-structured and informative preparation course.
The course is great and super-useful.
I'm sure I'd say this too if this was my first M1 prep course but since I can compare it with another course, the way you build the curriculum and lessons is much clearer and more efficient, I already feel more confident in a lot of things.
This course has been very rewarding for me. The pace was perfect for study while working full time. I felt that we were given expert guidance from Sandy which was integral to feeling confident about the exam and (hopefully) doing well.
Do it if you're serious about Delta.
If you want to become a more knowledgeable teacher, if you don't have that much time, if you want to be guided towards the exam at a comfortable pace and want to have a high chance of success, do this course. I just wish I'd found it sooner!
Sandy, you've been a wonderful cheerleader and an incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy guide. So thank you!
Honestly, in Ukraine the prep course costs half as much, but the quality isn't comparable. I've chosen your course because of your name (started following your blog in 2015) and because the timing is reasonable. Your course is about quality, not speed (like 2-month courses).
If you want to do the DELTA, this is the way to do it. The extended time scale allows me to really think about the topics under discussion, and the weekly online class sessions are enjoyable and for me, highly motivating. Sandy is able to keep things in perspective and keep things moving forward at the same time.
Before beginning this course, I was filled with a lot of doubts but because of your course and very comprehensive and detailed feedback, I feel more confident now.
Thank you! Thank you sooo much!
It's one of the best courses I've ever attended because it's so well organised for people who are busy and the support that Sandy and Emma provide is superb. I'm happy to recommend it to anyone!
There's been a shift in my mindset. I'm so grateful to you Sandy and my tutors Emma and Stephanie for this. I know there is so much more to learn and I'll never be perfect, but I am grateful to the Universe for giving me people who guide me and help me to become a better version of myself.
Although I was too busy and had very little time to study, the course had been designed in a way that could help me make the most of my time. All we needed was there: lots of materials, responsive trainers (who did all they could to help us pass as if it were them who were going to take the test), lots of feedback and everything.
The course gave me a lot of structure but also drip-fed the methodology and content so it felt more manageable alongside my full time job.
[Take Your Time DELTA] has made me generally more self aware as a teacher, more conscious of the materials I use, how to exploit them and their limitations, and more aware of different approaches for teaching (not testing) the four language skills.
Having the time to read different sources each week and then discuss ideas with other trainees was fantastic. It's all very flexible, and very doable! It has really opened my eyes and made me think a lot more about how I teach and how I can improve.
The scheduling has allowed me to reflect on the course material between sessions, to review the recorded sessions and conduct readings in my own time, and to absorb the material.
This course has exceeded my expectations in every way. I found modules 1 and 2 extremely stressful and oftentimes confusing, but doing module 3 with Sandy has been the complete opposite. Everything is made so clear that it allows me to know exactly what I need to do and when. The sessions are extremely well prepared with an excellent balance of input and guided discovery. The feedback she gives us is excellent and allows us to see exactly what needs to be done, and how, in order to improve each part. In addition, working with a group of people has been extremely beneficial as we can help and learn from each other.
I honestly don't think I would have gotten even close to submitting my module 3 any time soon without this course. I was quite low on motivation after completing Modules 1 and 2 and knew I needed a lot a guidance in order to complete Module 3. This course did exactly what I needed with both the input from Sandy and working with other people in a group that were going through the same thing as I was.
If someone was hesitant about taking this course I would tell them to just do it! This course was absolutely the difference between me submitting after 8 months and probably procrastinating for the next 2/3 years!
Having done Delta Module 2 in an intensive summer course I didn't want that kind of stress and so the Take Your Time course was ideal. I've learnt a great deal about my specialism and syllabus design in general and feel motivated to read more. However, I've also learnt things I hadn't expected, such as tools to organise myself and even tricks to use Word more effectively. The sessions were really informative and Sandy was really generous with her time throughout.
Attending the DELTA courses with Sandy has got me interested and motivated to study again. I really enjoyed the challenge of the M1 course and exam (enjoyed might not be the right word, but it was amazing to pass!). This inspired me to carry on and do the M3 course. Sandy explains everything really well and you don't feel afraid to ask questions, or make mistakes. I would recommend these courses to other teachers because you learn so much in a relaxed and open atmosphere.
Sandy guided the group through the different parts of the assignment and we got extensive feedback on our writing throughout the course. I learned so much from her and would never have been able to complete the assignment without the help of her course. My coursemates felt the same. Sandy knows all the ins and outs of what Cambridge expects and how to meet the criteria, which is quite specific and sometimes daunting.
I highly recommend taking the DELTA Module 3 course with Sandy. It was fabulous! Thank you Sandy.
The course made a huge difference to me as I've been putting it off for the best part of a decade! I completed Module 1 and 2 earlier in my career, and I always knew I wanted to do the ELT Management option but never found a course that suited.
The Take Your Time approach meant it fit in with my work schedule, and I could study the material in enough depth for it to actually be useful for my job.
The course was a transformative experience for me. The way I teach will definitely change as a result.
I truly don't believe there is a more detailed, more supportive course out there.
